This was a funny and weird book. I really liked it. You should totally read it. My least favorite part was probably the end. It was really gross.

Mr sunny is funny is a very funny and energetic book.It is also a classic book about a funny kid (aj) at a beach in summertime hanging with his friends the whole summer. But the bad news is that his enemy (andrea)is also coming to spend the whole entire summer with him and his friends! But there is a really cool life guard(Mr sunny) that is not who aj thinks he is .Just because andrea thinks he is cute ,so that ruins what aj thinks about him.

There's nothing text related I didn't like about the book. They should make it in a hard cover. The rest of it was wonder , cool , awesome , funny and marvelous . So what the book is all about is . . . Aj hates school. He also hates Andrea . He 's graduating Second grade .so it the summer time now and his parents rent a beach house and invites one of his classmates from school , out of all the kids it just has to be Andrea .the only reason she here is to crush over the life guard Mr. Sunny. Will they be a happy couple.

I thought this book was really fun because of the romance and the words that remind the reader about summer.
This book is about a boy named A.J who is ready for summer. They go to a beach house and he finds out that he has to share the beach house with his enemy, Andrea. She is smart and nice, and kind of bossy to him. A.J thinks she's a know it all. His summer is ruined! When they get to the beach, they find a lifegaurd plowing sand. The lifegaurd goes to chase the shark away, but it turns out that it is just a long distance swimmer from Austraila. The lifegaurd entered a sandcastle contest that gets ruined by the long distance swimmer. When it's time for the contest, the long distance swimmer goes cliff diving and goes out of control. He crashes into the lifegaurd's special castle and ruins it. The swimmer apolijizes and makes sure that he won't do that or swim again. That's because he is gonjg to be a teacher. A.J's teacher!

I liked that A.J. read comic books in the car and he didn't even get car sick! Is that even possible? I liked how Mr.Sunny thought he was being chased by a shark but It was only Mr. Granite! My daughter really likes these books. She's in second grade and doesn't read as much as I did and still do so I'm happy to have her read anything. It's not great literature but it works for her. I really liked this book, as did my nephew.

(view spoiler)[My only real problem with this book is there's conversation about how Arlo//AJ being mean to Andrea means he must be in love with her. Mr Sunny cracked me up, as did Andrea quoting Shakespeare every chance she could. Arlo can be such a brat, but I love his way of thinking and the "hundred million years ago..." exaggeration cracks me up. Ryan, Michael, and Neil always add to the comedic tone of this series.

Aidan and I can't wait to start reading the third installment tomorrow for our bedtime reading! (hide spoiler)]

Order really matters in this series. If I dare read out of order, I miss long running gags. And what's a long running gag worth if you read it in reverse? Nothing!

In a similar vein, Andrea takes to reading Shakespeare in this book. Like many wanna look smart characters, she quotes it. Of course, what's makes it hilarious is how she mixes and matches quotes. It's like she's a walking "quotes from the Bard about love" book, stringing together quotes from wildly different play with wildly different

It's like she's a walking "quotes from the Bard about love" book, stringing together quotes from wildly different play with wildly different contexts (not to mention tones). Humor is 'dirt out of place' and here the dirt (including literally dirt, because, of course) is definitely not where it should be.

The whole family had a blast reading/listening to this one about A.J.'s summer vacation at the beach. Besides having his vacation invaded by a Shakespeare-spouting Andrea, A.J.'s gang of school buddies shows up to tease him, there's a sand castle building contest, and--wait for it--shark sightings! Grade school is so much fun. The whole family had a blast reading/listening to this one about A.J.'s summer vacation at the beach. This book was a read-aloud for my homeschooling curriculum and it was hilarious. I love that it's from a little kid's perspective and the characters in the book are all relatable. It is so funny and my kids were giggling the whole time we read the book.

We normally read two chapters, but we ended up reading half the book in one sitting. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I read this book with my second grader and we were both amazed by how hateful and mean the main character was. Writing about "Being mean to someone show's that you like them", being dishonest and just an all around not nice person?? Really? Are we encouraging emotional abuse at such a young age? Was excited by the cover when we picked this up from the library, but won't be borrowing another. So funny now I understand why they named the book like this especially when Mr sunny had to save the shark from the people but actually the people saved him from the beast shark.

It's the best time of year: the summer! No school or homework or teachers. A.J. is super excited to spend the summer at a beach house with his family until the worst thing in the history of the world happens. That know-it-all Andrea arrives with her family to stay with them. Andrea develops a crush on a wacky lifeguard named Mr. Sunny and she's talking all funny with her Shakespeare stuff. But A.J. is still determined to have a good time.

One of the funniest books in the series yet. My first grad

Recommends it for: children starting to read chapter books
This is the second book in the My Weird School Daze series by Dan Gutman and Jim Paillot.

They are very funny, quick reads and although they are told from a boy's perspective, I think they would appeal equally to boys and girls. This is a fun tale about summer vacation. A.J. goes away to the beach for the summer, but his friends end up joining him along with Andrea. Since the kids aren't in school, the rhyming title refers to an artistic lifeguard who dreams of studying art in France.

The book has a fun, surprise ending which sets up the next book in the series, Mr. Granite Is from Another Planet!.

We've read many of these books completely out of order, but it doesn't seem to matter. Now we are going back and starting to read the books we've missed in order.

The dialogue is fresh and the story is easy to read aloud, although we all read this one independently. I do not like the instances where the word "dumb" is used, but I either change the word or mention how that it is a mean thing to say. We will certainly look for more of these stories at our local library.

interesting quote:

"But if you ask me, people who swim across oceans with shark fins on their backs are weird." (p. 42)

His most popular titles include the time-travel sports book Honus and Me and its sequels, and a clutch of baseball books, including The Green Monster from Left Field. From hopeful and very youthful presidential candidates to stunt men, nothing is off limits in Gutman's fertile imagination.
